ABSTRACT: The action of herbicides on weeds that develop under water deficit can be compromised, because the routes of penetration of hydrophilic herbicides are reduced due to the lower hydration of the cuticle in these plants. Moreover, hydrophobic compounds found in the epicuticular wax coating of plants under water stress, hinder the penetration of hydrophilic compounds. This study evaluated the control efficiency of glyphosate on guineagrass plants when submitted to different water deficits. The study was conducted in a greenhouse, and treatments were composed of guineagrass plants submitted to three soil water conditions [low water deficit (13%), intermediate water deficit (10%) and high water restriction (8%)], three doses of glyphosate (0.0, 270.0... |

ABSTRACT The goal of this study was to analyze the leaf anatomy and physiological behavior of Brachiaria grass plants (Urochloa decumbens) under different water conditions and with the application of sethoxydim herbicide. The used experimental design was the completely randomized one, with four replications, consisting of a 3 x 2 factorial scheme, with the combination of three water managements (-0.03, -0.07 and -1.5 MPa) with and without the application of sethoxydim herbicide + Assist mineral oil, at the recommended dose for the species (184 g a.i. ha-1). The assessed physiological and anatomicalal parameters were photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration, difference between leaf and room temperature, dry mass of plants, thickness of... |

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of soil cover with sugarcane residue on weed emergence of four weeds from the genus Brachiaria. The study was conducted in an area whose soil was classified as Red Nitosol. Seven different amounts of sugarcane residue (0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 ton ha-1) were used as soil cover. The residue of variety SP832847 was used upon four weed species: Brachiaria decumbens, B. brizantha, B. ruziziensis, and, B. humidicola. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications. The weeds were sown 1 cm deep and covered by the residue. The seeding rate in use was 1,200 plants m-2. The study was comprised of two phases: the first phase was an evaluation of plant emergence (more than 1 cm... |

ABSTRACT: Weeds are one of the main obstacles in the recovery of degraded areas. This research aimed to study the selectivity of herbicides on Trema micrantha (Jamaican nettletree), Schinus molle (Peruvian peppertree), and Apuleia leiocarpa (garapeira) seedlings. An experiment was installed in Junqueirópolis and another in Jaboticabal/SP, Brazil. The experimental design used was completely randomized design with four replications. Treatments consisted of clethodim + fenoxaprop-p-ethyl (50 + 50 g a.i. ha-1), sethoxydim (184 g a.i. ha-1), quizalofop-p-ethyl (75 g a.i. ha-1), nicosulfuron (50 g a.i. ha-1), fluazifop-p-butyl (125 g a.i. ha-1), fomesafen (225 g a.i. ha-1), haloxyfop-methyl (48 g a.i. ha-1), bentazon (720 g a.i. ha-1), chlorimuron-ethyl (15 g... |

ABSTRACT: Plants in soils with low water availability may present a reduction of their leaf area and photosynthetic rate, as well as lower assimilated compound supply for seeds. Knowing the physiological quality and seed production of weeds generated under water deficit conditions can help understanding the survival and competition strategies of species. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of water stress on the production and germination of Bidens pilosa and Raphanus raphanistrum seeds. Plants were maintained in soils with different water potentials (-0.03, -0.07 and -1.5 MPa) throughout their cycle, until seed production, when they were harvested. Then, evaluations were performed to find out the number of seeds per plant and number of... |
